Bio

Andreea Puiu is a visual artist with a background in architecture, whose practice operates at the intersection of construction and introspection. Working in mixed media — acrylic, graphite, and ink on paper and canvas — she explores the figure as an inner territory, where memory and experience take form.

Influenced by the discipline of architectural drawing, her work emphasizes rhythm, structure, and repetition, using the line as a tool for symbolic mapping. Her series form a coherent body of work, where each piece functions autonomously while contributing to a larger visual narrative.

Artist statement

My practice unfolds at the intersection between the visible and the invisible, between matter and spirit. Working in mixed media — acrylic, graphite, and ink on paper and canvas, I construct spaces of passage, where the figure is inhabited. The body emerges as an inner territory: a field of accumulation where memory, tension, and repetition settle over time.

Rooted in my background in architecture and drawing, the work is shaped by a sustained attention to rhythm, structure, and process. The line does not describe, but maps; it does not delimit, but brings into proximity. Between gesture and construction, drawing remains an act of slow precision, a form of inner architecture.

The process carries a ritual and contemplative dimension, inviting a gradual encounter with symbolic spaces of interiority. The series form a coherent body of work in which each piece maintains its autonomy while entering into dialogue with the others, constructing a broader visual and spiritual narrative.

The palette remains restrained, while the symbolic density increases. Within this tension, the work develops as an ongoing search for a language capable of holding both structure and presence.
